Senator Talent's misleading and negative attacks are nothing new. Finally, though, they have received the media scrutiny they deserve. On October 21, factcheck.org posted a piece about how quotes in Senator Talent's ads are falsely attributed to newspapers when they were actually the words of Claire's critics that had been printed in the papers. You can view the factcheck.org report here: http://www.factcheck.org/article454.html.
Because of the grossly misleading nature of these ads, the Kansas City Star has called on Senator Talent to take these ads off the air, but his campaign has yet to comply.
Senator Talent's neverending personal attacks on Claire and her family show not only his lack of respect for Missourians, who deserve to hear about the issues that affect their lives, but also his lack of a record outside of being a rubberstamp for the failed Bush agenda.
Amidst these negative attacks on her record and her family, Claire has stayed positive and focused on her message of change. Missouri voters can join this movement for change by electing Claire on November 7th.
Talent taking money from DoD contractors, former lobbying client
todd johnston— 04:31 PM Nov 03, 2006
This story was posted this morning at ePluribusMedia and is starting to get some play. Sen. Talent's campaign has been taking contributions from Richard McClure and other executives at UniGroup (United Van Lines, Mayflower Transit), despite their status as government contractors, and the fact that Talent lobbied UniGroup and serves/has served on committees with oversight for defense spending and procurement.
Claire, thank you for your integrity and your "toughness." You will truly be a fighter for all Missourians and make your presence known even in your freshman year as a Senator.
And I just found this posted today on another blog:
does anyone know what Talent said this morning on MSNBC? I was out of the room, but the hubby went nuts...first called Mccaskill's office then made a contribution. Hubby does not give up money very easy.
The poster may have been speaking of the same clip I viewed last night. Poor Talent; he had trouble finishing a sentence. He'd grope helplessly for words after almost every question ... then he'd stop in the middle of his answer and grope for words once again, then begin anew. I hope lots of voters saw it. Who would want a U.S. Senator that cracks under pressure so obviously and becomes incoherent?
I know you won't. You are one strong lady and have shown it time and again through the years.
Thank you for being you.

I think Sen. talent is a good person. His stand on immigration is not all bad, On stem cell research, he doesn't want to see embryos cloned. stem cell research will be done whether it is approved in this election or not. It will be the way it is presented to the people that will make the difference.
My problem with Sen. Talent is this; He stands with Bush on the war in Iraq, witch I have disapproved of from the beginning. He went after something that wasn't there and lied about it. After all the bull, he lied about it. The real culprit was not in Iraq and he knew it. Going on 3000 lives thousands and thousand wounded, all because of Bush and his self created war. Sen. Talent backs Bush on this war and for that reason I will vote for C. McCaskill.

Republican voting for Claire
Sgt Rock— 10:09 PM Oct 31, 2006
The smear tactic being used by The Republican Party backfired for this voter, after hearing the tv ad citing Claire for failure to pay personal property taxes for three years and then of her being in danger of losing her home I have to say it caused me to split from my republican base:;whether or not ANY of the mud being thrown has any basis in fact is not the issue, its that the Republican Party rooted in the trash and the best that they could find was that this bad woman got in arrears and didnt try to bribe or cheat her way out of her debt which made her seem like ...me,actually.I only hope that Im typical of the new demographic, voters voting for the candidate based on their public track record and not solely by party allegeance.

Regardless of what Americans think about stem cell research and regardless of whom you plan to vote for in Missouri's Senate race, the real issue is What Rush L. said and did. He mocked Mr. Fox and accused him of "faking" his disease. For those of us living with a disability, working full-time, paying taxes and contributing to society, we are gawked at and discriminated against because of the way we look or act. Conservative talk show hosts want us to hide and not show ourselves in public. ABC ought to fire Rush for his blatantly discriminatory remarks against a person with a disability. Remarks like his are disgusting and civil rights activists ought to rise up against this blatant attack on people who are living with chronic health conditions and those of us living with disabilities. As one former GOP Presidential candidate said "Where is the outrage?"
Claire has conducted herself as all contenders should...

A vote for Talent would be a vote for Missouri's biggest lier and lowest mudslinger. He, and the Republican CC, should be sued for slander, etc. I am tired of being lied to. I used to be an Independent voter but no more. The Republicans have made a Democrat out of me! This type of negative campaigning over the past years is dividing the nation and creating hate through misinformation ie. LIES!
Negative campaigning backfires.....on GOP!
Justobservant— 09:18 PM Oct 30, 2006
In a state with a contested Senate race, and the election only days away; the political/social dynamics exhibit irony. As last-minute campaigning becomes frantic, the hard-sells increasingly backfire on voters who are undecided, the very voters who would most likely sway to the Democrats.
In short, the GOPs agendas are largely based on the very aggressive, knee-jerk reactions that many voters are increasingly rejecting. Hence, the Democratic candidates tones (agendas) actually resonate with a growing majority of undecided voters!
* Tired of all of the mudslinging? Still undecided? The Democratic candidates are what's in mind!

I just wanted to congratulate Claire on her committment to stem cell research and her alliance with Michael J. Fox. This ad particularly touched me, as my father is a fellow parkinson's sufferer. Although I am not in Claire's district, and actually am an ex-pat living in London, England!, I will contact everyone I know stateside to ensure that they support Claire's campaign. Best of luck!
